• Practical impact. My research should also be appreciated by people outside the theory community. Two kinds of research topics are of particular interest: (1) problems that are motivated by practical applications (in particular, database research) for which the solutions can be directly applied, e.g., algorithms for processing massive data; (2) theoretical studies that can serve as benchmarks to measure the performance of practical methods, e.g., lower bounding of data structure performance.
